Hi, we are Scott and Niki, and we are raising funds for our 8-year-old daughter Thea. At just 18 months old, Thea was diagnosed with Type 2 Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).

By the time she was 2½, she began using a wheelchair full-time. Since then, her wheelchair hasn't just been equipment—it's her independence, her mobility, and her freedom. Right now, Thea uses a power-assisted chair.

The wheels come off so we can lift her into a child car seat and store the chair in the back—but this is exhausting, and as she grows, it's becoming unsustainable.

Thea needs her next wheelchair: a full electric chair operated by joystick. These chairs are heavy, non-modular, and impossible to lift in and out of a standard car.

Without a converted wheelchair-accessible vehicle, she simply won't be able to leave the house in her own chair.

NDIS may help with the electric wheelchair—we're working through that process now.

But here's what NDIS won't cover: the vehicle itself, and the specialized conversion to make it wheelchair-accessible. In Australia, this gap leaves many families stranded.

Rather than delaying Thea's independence while we fight a battle we can't win, we're moving forward on the wheelchair now—and asking for your help with the one piece NDIS won't touch.

We're fundraising specifically for the wheelchair-accessible vehicle and its conversion—the only way Thea can actually use her new electric chair in the world.

Right now, transfers are physically difficult, unsafe, and exhausting—for her and for us. A wheelchair-accessible car would allow Thea to roll in, stay safely in her chair, and go.

Doctor visits, school, family outings—everything she wants to do—would become possible without fear or strain.

This vehicle isn't a luxury—it's a necessity. It would:

• Allow Thea to travel in her electric wheelchair—the only way she can independently navigate her world

• Eliminate dangerous and exhausting. transfers

• Keep her safe during transportation • Give her the independence every 8-year-old deserves.

With her electric chair and a proper vehicle, she'll finally have that freedom.
