Eric Zottneck came off the road in November, expecting to return to his truck driving career by the end of the year. Unfortunately, after receiving the results of three abnormal MRI’s and experiencing multiple neurological symptoms, Eric was told he could not return to work. Doctors are still unsure about what is ailing Eric, and he has received tentative diagnoses that range from severe migraines, to cancer, to Parkinson’s disease. All the while, his symptoms become progressively worse. Under the advisement of his physician, Eric is waiting to see a new
neurologist and will then seek treatment at the Mayo clinic. The cost of medical care, the travel expenses for out of town medical care, and personal
expenses for the family are adding up. Eric’s symptoms include trembling, problems with speech, severe headaches, nausea, numbness in limbs, blurred vision, fatigue, and seizures. Eric’s wife Jessica is a teacher and the couple has a nine year old at home, and two adult children who have left the nest.
As ordained ministers, Eric and Jessica have dedicated much of their life to caring for children, youth and their families through multiple ministries including youth wrestling. Eric started the youth wrestling program in Artesia, NM and was planning to wrestle again himself on a coaches team before becoming ill. The Zottneck family is in need of resources to care for Eric’s medical expenses, travel to out of town medical appointments, and the upcoming trip to the Mayo clinic which could cost up to $30,000 out of pocket. The Zottneck family has decided that any unused funds will be donated to Climb Above Parkinson’s, a 501(C)3 non-profit organization that exists to bring awareness about, and treatment for, Parkinson's Disease.
