Help the Zimic Family after Cancer took Father
I hope this finds everyone well. I met Nihad (Nino) many years ago. He picked me up as a Uber driver as I travelled so much from the Airport to home at least 2 or 3 times per month. He was always waiting for me, when he could have ran 2 or 3 other fares, because he didn't want me to wait on him. He would always be on time to pick me up from home to the airport. Never did I have to wait on Nino.
The story is not about how I met Nino, but the story about how this Uber driver from Bosnia never complained a moment in his life. He would tell me all the time, "Thank God I have this job and you are traveling so I can take care of my Family". I would not have the things I have if I lived in Bosnia.
Today (08.17.2021) I had the pleasure of holding this man's hand as he passed away in the hospital from Cancer. He was battling liver cancer only to find it had entered his spine, brain and other organs. Nino was not concerned about what was killing him, but was thankful the treatment he received removed it from his liver, all why hiding the fact he had it worse than he would let anyone know. He spent the last few months of his life making sure his family knew he loved him and filling them up with great memories.
He passed away this morning (08.17.2021 @ 1054a). He left behind Ahira, whom he met 20 years ago at a dance party this very month, and they fell in love. He also left behind Lajla (his daughter 17) and Amar (his son 13). Ahira told me beautiful story of how Nino as an immigrant came to this country with nothing in his pocket. A very proud person who did not believe in handouts, did not blame anyone for his misfortunes, who loved and adored his family! Nino was the sole provider for this family. They will need much in the coming months as they rent a modest home and will have some medical bills as well as life expenses to keep them comfortable while his wife will continue to look for new work. They have two wonderful children who need our support!
I cannot say how much I was honored to be able to serve this man by making sure his wife who has no immediate family, by being by his side during his last breath on this earth. Cancer took this Man I strive to become every day, Humble. Can we help his family with short term and future costs? I know you can!
Thank you for your help!
