Help The Zdrojewski Family - Pediatric Brain Tumor

Becky & Daniel took their 5 year old son Tony in to see a physician after they noticed he was not feeling well.  He was swabbed and diagnosed with Influenza B.  After still not improving, they took him into a second, who diagnosed him with gastritis.  Finally, after noticing he was still not improving and starting to have balance issues walking, they took him in a third time and insisted on additional testing.  A CT scan confirmed every parent's worst fear - their son had a brain tumor and significant brain swelling as a result.  He was immediately admitted on Tuesday, March 10 and underwent a series of tests and emergency surgery to place a drain and alleviate the swelling.  On Wednesday he underwent a 4 hour MRI of his brain and spine, and that evening, he was flown to Chicago for further care and surgical planning of his tumor.  He is scheduled to undergo tumor removal tomorrow morning, Saturday, March 14.  Biopsy will then be sent to pathology for evaluation and additional care plans will be made.  The initial goal we have set is to help them cover 3 months of time off & care, and help with deductible and uncovered expenses, as there will be several weeks of follow-up and therapy expected.  Medical expenses, even with insurance are devastating.  And time spent hours away from home while they receive care quickly adds to expenses.  While they have medical insurance, they relocated to Wisconsin two years ago; Becky has not yet accrued significant benefits such as extended paid leave in her nursing position and Daniel is self-employed.

Tony is a smart, vibrant, and loving boy who has always had amazing health.  We are starting this page to help alleviate the numerous unplanned expenses that will accompany this journey.  No parent should have to endure watching their child suffer.  And when fate plans otherwise, they should not have added financial stress during what will easily be the most stressful life experience of their young lives.
