Help Baby Luca Get to Washington D.C.
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family of the Zangrilli's,
This fundraiser is to help offset some of the extraordinary medical expenses and travel costs to ensure Baby Luca has the best care and chance for future success.
Little Luca was born 8/30/21 and spent almost 2 months in the NICU. He was diagnosed with VACTREL association which included an imperforate anus, intestinal malrotation, tethered spinal cord, neural tube defects, sacral agencies, microcephaly among other things. Due to his condition, he had to have colostomy surgery at 3 days old, and currently uses colostomy bags. Around 2 months old he needed a colostomy revision surgery. He currently has countless testing and procedures as well as weekly therapy including occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy (feeding). Baby Luca has come such a long way in the past few months and is one of the happiest babies you will ever meet! He’s so silly and bubbly, never complains and truly deserves the very best. His best chance for success in life is doing his PSARP surgery and colostomy closure in Washington DC at Children’s National. They have a colorectal and pelvic reconstruction center, a management program, a surgeon who has extensive experience performing this particular surgery and a team that will provide him with all of the tools to have the very best outcome.
We are asking for help because it takes about 6-8 months (sometimes longer) to apply and get accepted for health insurance assistance and then that has to be approved before they can apply for out of state coverage. The Zangrilli’s started this process as soon as they found out about it and Luca was around 3 months old. This most likely will not be in effect for their upcoming trip to Washington in March for testing before surgery, April for Luca's PSARP surgery , and June for his colostomy closure surgery. Some of baby Luca’s surgeries like his tethered cord need to be done on a time-line and some should be done before others, so we are asking for help and support to assure baby Luca can have what he needs in the appropriate and recommended time-frame. The monthly costs for colostomy supplies, past and present medical bills due are getting extremely difficult for the Zangrilli’s to manage without some assistance! I hope that we can pull together to help take some of the financial pressure off of them so they can concentrate on helping their precious baby boy receive the best possible care he deserves. This sweet family needs to focus on Luca's best interest and not the financial responsibilities.
Please donate if you are able and feel led to do so. If you cannot help financially, that's okay! We covet your prayers and sharing of this fundraiser!!
