Hi! My name is Trisha a friend of the Zachar family. Joe and Christl have been married for 15 years. They have 2 wonderful children together. Cameron, 13 attends the middle school and Jolyn, 6 attends kindergarten at the Elementary School. Christl is a dedicated kindergarten teacher at Big Rock Elementary. And Joe is a universal truck driver, that hauls automotive parts.

In April, Joe found out he had bladder cancer. They found out the tumor was very large and needed to remove the tumor. Joe under went 3 separate surgeries to try and remove the tumor. The final surgery was through U OF M. The doctor expressed after surgery how large and aggressive the tumor was. He suggested removal of the bladder. Then after further testing, it was also confirmed it was in Joe's prostate. The doctor then gave the option to try BCG treatment. Joe had the treatment once a week for 6 weeks. After treatments and everything was reassessed, they found the treatment to not have worked and it actually quadrupled in size since August. The only option left is to remove Joe's bladder and prostate.

They have scheduled Joe to have surgery on December 28th 2021. They figure he'll be in the hospital for at least 6/7 days. Christl plans to stay near U of M for the duration at a hotel.

A lot of people have been reaching out, wanting to help. So we figured this to be our best option, for all who want to help to do so. Joe has already used all of his vacation days. And will be off for 6-8 weeks after, if all goes well. They will both be taking a lot of time off in the near future. They could use the help of family and friends with this huge financial burden. From time off of work, hotel stays, gas, propane, groceries, and general daily life.

Joe has a hard road ahead and not having to worry about financial stress, would mean the world to them.
