Hello, my name is Daniel and I am the boyfriend of Jihee Yun, and close friend of the Yun family. This fundraiser is to provide financial aid to the Yun family after a fire destroyed their house, many of their belongings, and claimed the life of their dog (Connie). All of the donation proceeds will go directly to the Yun family for them to use as they deem appropriately.

The accident happened in the afternoon of Wednesday, November 3rd. The fire started suddenly and without warning from outside the townhouse and caught both of Jihee’s parents off-guard. Jihee’s mother noticed there was a fire after seeing smoke seep through the bottom of their front door. The fire was scaling the front wall of their townhouse, and into Jihee’s parents room, where the two of them were located. Thankfully, they both managed to escape with minimal injuries.

Unfortunately, the family’s beloved dog, Connie, was unable to escape the house and passed away, may she rest in peace.

All of the Yun family’s belongings were either burned up, soaked in water, or covered in ashes, most of which can never be recovered. This includes any sentimental items they have involving Connie, as well as family pictures and heirlooms.

Jihee already had a lot to stress about, being a full time student at the University of British Columbia. She has lost much school related material in the fire, and her learning has been abruptly halted due to this emotional and financial crisis.

All money raised will go towards relieving any short-term monetary stress for the family so they can focus on finding a new home and rebuilding their lives. Specifically, the money will go towards purchasing food, clothes, cookware, toiletries, etc.
