In 2022, we began our l project with a clear vision, to create a pathway for local footballing talent, built from the ground up, and to give young players the opportunity to represent Dunbar United FC at the highest level possible.
Now, in 2025, that vision is becoming reality. Our young side is proudly representing the club on a national stage! We are competing in the Scottish FA Youth Cup, one of the most prestigious youth competitions in the country.
In the last round, our team defied all odds, producing a stunning comeback to defeat Caledonian Braves, a team from a league above (Scottish Lowland Development Football League). It ended in a thrilling 4–3 victory, after being 3–0 down.
It was a performance full of belief, togetherness and resilience — everything that embodies our squad of young players.
That incredible result has earned us a place in Round 3, where we’ll face one of Scotland’s most historic clubs, Aberdeen FC, away from home.
This fixture marks a significant milestone for our club, our players, and everyone who’s been part of our journey.
In the previous round, an amazing 95% of our squad were graduates of our own youth system at Dunbar United Colts FC, or live locally to the town of Dunbar.
This is exactly what we dreamed of, local players coming through our pathway, now stepping up to compete against one of Scotland’s elite academies.
Why We’re Raising Funds?
This special tie involves a 319-mile round trip to Aberdeen, and we’re raising funds to cover the cost of coach hire for our players and staff.
Last season alone, our club spent over £1,000 on transport for fixtures like this a huge commitment for a community-based club. In the last round, we travelled 136 miles for our clash with Caledonian Braves. This is our longest trip, ever!
With your support, we can:
• Hire a coach to transport our squad and staff
• Provide a pre-match stop to fuel our players before the big game
• Ensure every player can travel and be part of this unforgettable experience
Every pound raised helps us provide the best possible experience for the group, as we travel North for this historic night.
A Historic Occasion Facing Aberdeen FC is no ordinary match.
Their first team is one of Scotland’s most storied clubs, with four league titles, seven Scottish Cups, six League Cups, and, under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, the incredible achievement of lifting both the European Cup Winners’ Cup and European Super Cup in 1983.
For the young Seasiders, stepping onto the pitch against a club with such a history is a moment we’ve strived for since 2022. It is a chance to measure themselves against the best, to showcase their talent, and to hopefully, put our local pathway on the map.
This isn’t just football. It’s about our community, the development of our players and making history.
Now, with your help, we can make sure our players get the opportunity they’ve worked so hard for. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference.
Together, let’s get Dunbar United FC to Aberdeen and make Round 3 a day to remember! ❤️⚽
Thank you for your support — it means the world to our players, our staff, and everyone at the football club.
