Hi, my name is Michelle, this is the Young family. Lisa, John, Jordan and Emma. I’ve been a friend of the family since our kids were young, and they are some of the most wonderful, genuine people I know. Lisa was diagnosed with Cancer in 2012 and had surgery later that year. She was able to go just over 5 years cancer-free, but her recurrence happened in late 2018. Chemo and Radiation followed not long after, in the attempt to fight this horrible disease yet again.  Lisa is still in her fight and is battling every day!   Never did they foresee a global pandemic hitting their home.

 

Several weeks ago, John was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

 

John first got sick at the end of November. He had a nasty head cold and mild cough (they did a rapid Covid test on him, which was negative.) It then moved to his ears to the point that he had significant hearing loss. Next, the whole family came down with Covid. Jordan, Emma and Lisa recovered within several days. John did not. It hit him hard, and he ended up in the hospital.

 

During that hospital stay, they were made aware that he was dealing with much more than Covid and were shocked to have such a bomb dropped on them. How is it possible that their kids would now have two parents with cancer? It was heartbreaking news for all of them.

It doesn’t seem fair, but we all know that life isn’t always fair and can be downright cruel at times. Unfortunately, this feels like one of those times.

 

The issue they are currently dealing with is that John is just not strong enough to start chemo yet. He would never be able to tolerate the toll that chemo takes on your body. So, for now, they will keep a very close eye on him and monitor his blood work. We will continue to keep our fingers crossed that he will get stronger every day to receive the treatment needed to beat this disease!

 

John is a self-employed contractor and sole provider for his family. Since November, John has not been able to work, and money is getting very tight for everyday living expenses. So please, if you can find it in your heart to donate in any way, I know they will be forever greatful. Let's take some of the stress off of them to fight and heal as a family and not have to worry about when John can go back to work.
