Help The Yale Herald Survive the Pandemic
Donation protected
The Yale Herald (yale-herald.com) has been providing the Yale community with a weekly source of news, creative writing, arts coverage, and cultural criticism since 1986. The publication serves as a voice for dialogue and dissent on campus, as Yale’s most daring publication. For many Yale students, the Herald is the first publication where their writing ever gets printed. But due to the pandemic, the Herald has recently undergone financial struggles. Historically, much of the Herald's revenue has come from local business ads. The pandemic has caused financial hardship among New Haven businesses, and therefore many can no longer afford to take out ads in our issues. We're turning to GoFundMe to help us recover the losses we've suffered in the pandemic.
The Herald prints about ten issues a year, which costs about $10,000. So far this year, we've only made $500 in ad revenue, compared to $5,000 spent on printing. With our current available funds, we won't be able to print any issues in the spring semester. In order to provide the Yale community with continued access to our coverage, we're hoping to raise $6,000 in this fundraiser, enough to cover printing for the spring semester and to provide us with seed money we can use for further fundraising.
To help The Yale Herald survive the pandemic and continue our 35-year history of providing an alternative source of news and writing on the Yale campus, please donate to our GoFundMe. We appreciate your contributions.
Sponsors will be honored in our print issues for the rest of the semester, being labeled as Donors ($50), Silver Contributors ($100), Gold Contributors ($250), and Patrons ($500).
