Help the Xiong Family Honor Charlie (Vaj Huas) Xiong

Donation protected
Our father, Charlie Xiong, spent his life overcoming hardship so his children could have a better future. He was born on November 11, 1962, and passed away on October 25, 2025, surrounded by the family he loved. We are raising funds to cover Hmong funeral expenses, immediate living costs for our mother, and support for his two young sons who are just beginning adulthood. Any gift will help our family through this heartbreaking time.

Charlie faced many struggles growing up. Left behind as a child, he survived by finding refuge at a Buddhist temple, a place that gave him shelter and hope when there was nowhere else to turn. He later came to the United States, determined to build a life and family. He met and married Kristi Lia Vang, and together they raised six children: four daughters and two sons. At the age of 31, Charlie started dialysis while waiting for a kidney. In 1994, he was blessed with a successful kidney transplant, but the challenges did not end there. Charlie had to be careful with his diet, keep up with medications, and manage his health. His goal was always to live as long as he could to see his children and grandchildren grow. Even after facing more health challenges, including a defibrillator implant and triple bypass surgery, Charlie remained devoted to his family.

Many in the Hmong community may remember Charlie for his unique contributions. He dedicated countless hours to dubbing popular shows and movies into the Hmong language at a time when few in the community were multilingual. His voice brought to life favorites like Stephen Chow’s Flirting Scholar (Tong Pak Fu), The Royal Tramp (Xwb Fwb Nkauj Zaj Dawb) parts 1 and 2, and the Kamen Rider series (Nraug Zaj thiab Lien). Through his work, Charlie helped bridge cultures and brought joy and entertainment to countless families.

Charlie was also a talented ping pong player, earning three local tournament trophies and spending many hours playing at Holmes Playground in Fresno. Even though he had restrictions due to his health, he still found the strength and determination to play the game he loved. His friendly spirit and love for ping pong made him a familiar face to many in the community.

Charlie was a gentle, committed father who sacrificed so his children could have more opportunities than he had. He found strength in faith, family, and small daily acts of love—caring for his children, supporting Kristi, and teaching by example. Even when he was ill, he made sure to fix a hot meal for his wife and sons. We want to honor Charlie with a funeral that respects Hmong traditions and gives him the tribute he deserves. Your support will help us cover funeral costs, medical bills, and living expenses, and will keep our family together during this painful transition. We promise to use donations responsibly and to provide updates so you can see the impact of your generosity. Thank you for helping us honor Charlie’s memory and support our family.

As the holidays approach, we know this is a season of joy and celebration for many. While our family is mourning and facing unexpected expenses, we are deeply grateful for any support, no matter how small. Your kindness during this time means more than words can express, and every gesture will help us honor Charlie’s memory and keep our family together.
