On March 28th, 2025, Chalice Cavalier Wright died tragically in her sleep due to unknown complications. My family had just made the huge move from Fairfax, California to Eugene, Oregon the day before her death. She didn’t even get a chance to begin this new start. Chalice had so much potential in so many different ways. She had been a beloved member of the Fairfax community as a former Scoop employee turned YMCA teacher’s assistant at Manor Elementary. She couldn’t walk by the school without kids screaming with excitement that she was there. She was so creative and so sensitive to everyone and everything, but she was the baby. Compassionate to people that didn’t deserve it. A genius musician. She was deeply philosophical in nature—her soul was too big for her body.

We had all been set to start new jobs for this next chapter—my mom was supposed to start tomorrow. But her baby died and the pain at this time is too tremendous to bear.
