Help the Wright Family in Their Fight Against Cancer and ALD

Donation protected
The Wright family is perhaps one of the most kind, generous families I have ever met. If anyone is deserving of support, financial or otherwise, it is this family.

In November of 2023, my dear friend Trish, who I had come to know and love through our mutual career in veterinary medicine, was involved in a severe car accident. This accident left her with a broken pelvis and 12 weeks of at-home, unpaid medical leave. In usual Trish fashion, she maintained an extremely positive attitude while being stuck at home on the couch for 12 weeks as everyone else went about their usual business. When it came time to return to work, Trish was more than ready to start helping pets and their people again.

Shortly after her return to work, we were all filled with joy when we found out that she was pregnant with baby Philip! This was considered nothing short of a miracle given all of the stress she had been through over the previous months!
Over the course of her pregnancy, her hyperemesis was so severe that it required her to have infusion treatments multiple times a week, and working was no longer possible. In the summer of 2024, after pursuing multiple opinions regarding her hyperemesis, we were all devastated when Trish received the diagnosis of esophageal adenocarcinoma with metastasis to her liver. She is one of less than 10 people in the entire world who has received this diagnosis while pregnant. Despite this news, Trish has continued to remain positive, never once feeling sorry for herself or questioning her faith in God. She started chemotherapy while pregnant with Philip and, true to her usual unshakeable faith and optimistic attitude, has continued to amaze us all with her resiliency. At 30 weeks and 2 days, Philip arrived via emergency C-section and stayed in the NICU for only 5 weeks prior to coming home, which is also nothing short of a miracle. We have all been amazed at his strength and how quickly he has overcome any challenges life has thrown him. He is the light the Wright family has needed during a very dark time. Trish has amazingly managed caring for baby Philip and her older son Daniel while also still receiving chemotherapy.

Unfortunately, bad news has struck again. Trish's older son Daniel, who is five years old, has recently received a diagnosis of adrenoleukodystrophy. This is a disease of the bone marrow that will eventually become fatal if untreated. It was fortunately caught early due to Trish and Corbet's diligence and attentiveness to their son's care.

Trish and her family now face the challenge of being temporarily uprooted and moving to Minnesota so that Daniel can receive the best care. He will need chemotherapy to kill his current bone marrow cells and then a bone marrow transplant to replace them with donor bone marrow. They are in the process of testing Corbet in the hopes that he is a match; however, if he is not, the likelihood is the match will be found through the bone marrow donor registry. Many people within our community are being tested in the hopes that one of us is a match for Daniel. Time is of the essence to start treatment before Daniel begins to show symptoms, as most symptoms are not reversible once they appear.

I personally cannot imagine fighting cancer, receiving chemotherapy, caring for an infant, worrying about my oldest son, and having to move my family states away to ensure that he has the best possible care. Corbet has been working extremely hard to support his family while also being the only child to help care for his aging mother. The stress on him has been immense, and although his company is trying to work with him, there is no guarantee his job will be held for him when he returns home and no guarantee he will be able to find a source of work while in Minnesota.

This family is so deserving of your help. They continue to give the shirt off their back for those in their community. They continue to be a source of God's love despite their challenges. I myself aspire to have the amount of faith that they have.
My hope is that this GoFundMe account will provide the financial support that they need to help them get through the next approximately eight months while Daniel receives treatment in Minnesota. I hope that this financial help will alleviate some of their stress and allow them to focus on getting their family healthy and continuing to raise their children with love and positivity, while sharing God’s love with everyone they meet.

Every little bit helps! We thank you, sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts.

God Bless,
