On the morning of Friday, May 15, 2026, our family received the devastating news that my nieces and nephew lost their dad in an accident no one was prepared for.
Christian Wright, a careful and experienced paraglider, had gone out with friends at Corner Canyon in Draper, when wind gusts caused his parachute to lose lift and fail, dropping him 75-80 feet. He was 35 years old.
He leaves behind three beautiful children ages 7, 9, and 11, just 6 days before his birthday and weeks before Father’s Day.
Christian was a man of God who lived a life of selfless service. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 2008 to 2016, including a tour in Afghanistan. Months after returning home, he answered another call to serve, this time as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Brisbane, Australia. He continued serving his community through Search and Rescue, always showing up wherever he was needed most. His love for adventure and nature was shown in his hobbies such as rock climbing, skiing, trail running, camping, mountain biking, and flying. He was always up for a challenge and fully committed to anything he put his mind and heart to. But nothing compared to his greatest joy and his greatest purpose in life, which were his children. They were everything to him, and him to them.
These three children now face an unimaginable road ahead. Our family is still in shock, still trying to process what has happened. But in the middle of that grief, needs still need to be met until long term aids are in place.
If you can give, we are deeply grateful. If you can only pray, that matters just as much. No contribution is too big or small. All proceeds will go to the children.
