Help Our Young Family Recover from a Second Flooding Disaster

Hi everyone,

We’re Samuel and Kelsey Woodward, parents to two amazing little ones, our 2-year-old daughter and our 3-month-old baby. We’re also foster parents, and while we don’t currently have a placement, caring for children has been a big part of our family’s story.

We’re reaching out for help during an incredibly difficult time. Just a few months ago, our living room flooded due to a plumbing issue. It took everything we had-time, energy, and finances, to repair the damage and make our home livable again for our young family. We thought we were finally back on solid ground.

But now, we’ve been hit again and this time with a separate, and even more devastating flooding issue with the recent storms that have hit Indiana. Our basement living room, laundry room, and guest room/office is totally flooded by the heavy rainfall and suspected septic system backup, as well as electrical issues and mold, making the house uninhabitable. We’ve had to leave our home with our babies and find temporary housing while also trying to figure out how to afford emergency repairs.

To make matters worse, our insurance won’t cover the damage  or repairs from this latest disaster. We’re now facing enormous unexpected costs, including cleanup, repairs, temporary housing, and replacing items that were damaged.

We’re doing everything we can, and while we do not take pleasure in asking for help, we realize we can’t do this alone. We’re asking for your help to get us through this crisis and back into a safe home for our family. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to stability. We plan to do as much of the repair as we can ourselves with the help of friends and family to eliminate some costs. Even so, the $10,000 we are working to raise is just the starting point on repairs and it doesn’t even begin to replace the items we lost in the flood.
