Help The Woodward Family after Logging Accident
Donation protected
On Tuesday August 16, 2022 Maggie Woodward received a call that no wife ever wants to hear. Her husband, Derek Woodward, had been in a logging accident. The tree that Derek was cutting had vines attached to another dead tree that he did not see while he was cutting. The attached dead tree fell and hit his head, split his helmet into pieces, and knocked him out. Derek was taken to Hamot Hospital where they learned he had broken a vertebrae in his neck, a concussion, and several broken teeth. He has since been discharged from the hospital and is currently wearing a neck brace. The doctors said he won’t have any mobility and will soon be receiving physical therapy.
Derek is an independent contractor and the sole income provider for their family, while Maggie is a stay-at-home mom to their little girl Elsie. Maggie is also pregnant with their second baby and due at the end of September. Derek is unable to claim any sort of worker’s compensation.
Unfortunately, this is not the last of their troubles. Their home, a camper that they use to travel for Derek’s work, is filled with mold and beyond their own ability to repair. They are waiting for the insurance company to make a decision if they will be able to cover the damages, but more than likely, the mold issue will not be covered by the insurance company.
Derek will need to take quite some time to heal before he can return to work, and the family will be facing a significant loss of income. Donations from this fundraiser will cover the loss of income, meals, housing, baby items, and medical expenses that are not covered by their insurance.
If you are unable to donate please share, and pray for healing, comfort, and blessings for this family!
Thank you all!
