Hi, I am Jenny DiGirolamo. I am fundraising for my grandmother and my aunt, her full-time caregiver. My grandmother and aunt are still very severely impacted by the effects of Hurricane Ian and desperately need help. My grandmother has spent most of her life helping everyone close to her; now, she is in dire need of help. They currently don't have a functional home; the house is in-habitable with severe water and mold damage. The entire underbody of the trailer where the insulation and moisture barrier require replacement. They don't have the resources to do what is required to get my grandmother's house back to stable living conditions. It's a terrible situation, and any help is greatly appreciated.
The situation:
- My grandmother needs full-time care. She has had three strokes and is a fall risk.
- My aunt cannot work as she has been the caregiver since my grandfather passed away.
- They do not have any savings.
- Ian ripped their home apart, and they don't have any option but to rebuild.
- They don't have insurance as their home (modular) after a certain age cannot be insured. (They could not afford even if they could)
- Repairs to make their home livable total about 45K (new roof, new flooring, A/C, mold removal, new insulation and vapor sealing)
- They have been temporarily loaned an RV (pictured in the driveaway) as they try to rebuild; graciously by their neighbors. However, it is not an optimal living condition for my grandmother, considering her age and current health.
They are short about 25K to really have done what they need. They honestly don't have any other option. If they sold their home as is, it would pay pennies on the dollar, and it's not worth much. Anything helps as we try to remedy their current situation and get them back in a safe living environment.
