Aloha, my name is Taylor Reid and I’m humbly asking for your support for the Wolshin ʻOhana during this unexpected medical emergency.
On March 16, 2025, Uncle Steve “Furcat” Wolshin suffered a massive stroke and, in the process, broke his hip during a fall. He was taken to Wilcox Hospital, where he was treated overnight for the hip injury. Despite showing clear signs of a stroke, his symptoms were tragically overlooked.
The next morning, his daughter Kandace, knowing something was deeply wrong, advocated fiercely for him to be medevaced to Queen’s Medical Center on Oʻahu for proper evaluation and care. As many know, time is critical when it comes to stroke treatment—and precious hours were lost.
Uncle Furcat is currently in the ICU at Queen’s, with Kandace by his side. He had moments of progress the last few days but is now heavily sedated and unable to communicate. His condition is critical, but if you know Uncle Furcat, you know he’s a fighter. He’s already battled through kidney failure and countless challenges with grit and heart.
If you know the Wolshins, you know they’re always the givers—offering their love, time, and support without ever asking for anything in return. They would never ask for help themselves, which is why we’ve urged them to allow this incredible community to show up for them now. They truly need and deserve this support.
We’re asking for your kōkua to help cover the unexpected medical and travel expenses this crisis has created for the family. Every donation brings comfort, relief, and hope to a beloved father, friend, and community member.
If donating isn’t an option right now, please consider sending photos, videos, or messages to Kandace to share with her dad. Your memories and encouragement may bring him peace and strength in this critical time.
Mahalo for your love, prayers, and generosity. It means the world.
