In Loving Memory of Selome Woldegeorgis Harmon (Selamawit Zehaie Woldegeorgis)
August 28, 1974 – April 22, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the tragic and unexpected passing of Selome Woldegeorgis Harmon, a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, cousin, and loyal friend. Born in Eritrea and later making a home in San Diego, California, Selome was known for her love, strength, and unwavering support for those she cherished. She shared a deep 28 year-bond with her husband Donald "Donnie" Harmon, and together they raised four incredible children: firstborn Aman W., and their triplet daughters Yazmine, Savanna, and Cierra. Her children’s academic and professional achievements are a testament to her guidance and sacrifice, as she always put their needs first. She taught them to meet life’s challenges with grace and resilience, imparting the values of hard work, compassion, independence, and determination. Selome was an intelligent, creative, and adventurous soul. She was passionate about music, dancing, and spontaneous journeys. She was also known for being an inquisitive person, always researching different things including deep spiritual topics. Although somewhat shy, one-on-one, she could carry on a conversation for hours with those whom she trusted felt comfortable with.
Selome was known as a very loyal friend to those who knew her intimately. They considered her to be a good friend, one you could count on to step up and help without being asked. She was a good listener, a great confidant, and an advisor without judgement.
She was known for her expertise in computer-automated drafting. She was hoping and looking forward to refreshing her skills in her chosen field after her work related disability was treated, but that's not to be. She succumbed to the heaviness that weighed her heart and mind especially in the last two years. Her vibrant spirit, her warm heart, and beautiful smile have left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her memory will continue to shine bright in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her immediate family, her Husband Donnie, her children Aman, Yazmine, Savanna, and Cierra, Selome leaves behind seven of her siblings, her uncle and aunt, cousins, and life-long friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Zehaie Woldegeorgis and Hiwet W. Misginna, and brother Abel Woldegeorgis.
In this time of profound loss, we ask for your support to help the family cover the unexpected funeral expenses, as well as to cover the living expenses due to her loss. This will provide a foundation of support as they begin their journey of healing. Any contribution, large or small, will be deeply appreciated.
Please keep our family in your prayers.
