Update*
Wow!! The amazing love and outpouring support everyone has shown in less than 24hrs is unbelievable. With costs continuing to rise and Shawn’s condition staying the same I decided to up the goal. The Wnek family is incredibly grateful for everyone’s kinds words and very very generous donations. We will do our best to update you on Shawn’s condition. Thank you all so much .
Kindness can mean different things to different people. The meaning is in how you choose to show it. Be it through empathy, acceptance, kind gestures, thoughtfulness; the possibilities are entirely up to you. The definition of kind is what Shawn Wnek is. He’s the person that will attend a party and call you days, hours, and minutes leading up to your event asking what he can do to help. He will call you if he hears you’ve had a bad day not once, but twice. He is a kind loving soul and has been dealt a tough blow. Here is Shawn’s story:
On Monday October 25, 2021, Shawn did not feel well. He went to Kenmore Mercy Hospital with severe stomach pains where he was then admitted. On Wednesday October 27, 2021, his condition took a turn for the worse. Shawn went into Cardiac Arrest. The hospital staff was able to revive him to where he regained a pulse, but since that time, he has remained unresponsive. Shawn has undergone therapeutic hypothermia for 24hrs and numerous other tests. His prognosis is unknown at the moment and what the doctors and staff keep relaying to Family is we need to give him time to wake up.
The Wnek family has a hard road ahead of them with hospital, home, and daily life bills mounting while Shawn is fighting hard to recover. Sara is by his side daily and the children are still in school doing their best to stay strong. The toll this takes on a family can be devastating, both emotionally and financially. Please consider donating to help them get through this unfortunate deck of cards they have been dealt.
It has been too many days since we’ve heard his chuckle, heard his voice, hugged him, laughed with him and been able to be in his beautiful presence. We all continue to pray in hopes he will soon come out of this.
This path that was given is unfair, but he is and will continue to be a fighter.
