Synopsis: We need to raise $5000 to purchase new sets of sails for our 6 C420 sailboats. Our current sails are over 20 years old and are barley usable in a practice or competitive racing environment. Read more below:

We are the Western Michigan University club sailing team. For 50 years we have been providing easy and inexpensive access to the world of sailing for all students.

As a team our biggest asset is our fleet of 6 GLYC owned C420 sailboats which are starting to show their age. The recommended sail replacement interval is 7 years. Ours are over 20 years old, and in very poor condition.

We are happy to be working with the Gull Lake Yacht Club, as well as Ullman Sails Detroit. But we need to raise $5000 for the purchase of our new set of sails.

These new sails will allow for a better education not only for experienced members, but for those who are just starting out in the world of sailing. Some items of sail trim are impossible to teach on our current sails as they’re so stretched and damaged. They will also allow for our team to be proud of our equipment and be more competitive in races.
