On 02/21/2026, longtime Lansing residents, Gary Winters and his daughter Terisa Steiber, were traveling on Lansing Harpers Road when their vehicle was involved in a serious accident with an Allamakee County Motor Grader.

Both Gary and Terisa were taken to Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse to treat the severe injuries they sustained in the crash.

Gary Winters passed away on 02/25/26 from his injuries. Terisa is currently still hospitalized and has undergone several surgeries for her injuries. Terisa is looking at months of healing and rehabilitation due to the numerous broken bones she sustained from this accident.

The Winters Steiber family has endured unimaginable loss from this catastrophic event. Both Gary and Terisa have been longtime community members, friends, and family to the residents of the Lansing area.
