My name is Cory and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult and unexpected chapters of my life.
Our family is facing a sudden medical crisis after I was diagnosed with kidney cancer — Papillary Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC Type 1).
While this type is often described as “less aggressive,” it can change quickly, and the uncertainty has been overwhelming physically, emotionally, mentally and financially.
Since the diagnosis, our lives have been consumed by hospital visits, medical procedures, physical therapy, medications, and constant follow-up care.
Even with insurance, many expenses are not fully covered.
At the same time, we’ve lost a significant portion of our household income due to time away from work for treatment and recovery.
What savings we had were quickly depleted just trying to keep up with medical bills and basic living expenses.
This has placed an enormous emotional and financial strain on our family.
We’re doing everything we can to stay strong, but we’ve reached a point where we can’t do this alone.
If you’re unable to make a contribution, sharing my story means more than we can put into words.
Every share helps spread my story and brings hope that we can make it through this with the support of others.
As a U.S. Navy veteran (Operation Iraqi Freedom), I’ve learned the importance of resilience and community — and now, more than ever, we are leaning on both.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, for your kindness, and for any support you’re able to give.
Your compassion truly makes a difference for our family.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Winston Family
