Help the Wilson Family Rebuild After Hurricane Helene

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

I am writing with a heavy heart to share that my sister, brother-in-law, their 4-month-old twin daughters, and two dogs lost their home this past weekend due to Hurricane Helene.

First and foremost, we are incredibly grateful that everyone is safe! Noreen and Todd evacuated from their home along the Catawba River in Mecklenburg County on Thursday, September 26. However, upon returning on Saturday, they found their house severely damaged and flooded. By Sunday morning, we learned that their home on Riverhaven Drive had slid from its foundation into the river.

Hurricane Helene caused historic flooding in Western NC, which, combined with overflow from the river and water let down into the spillways, led to decimating their Charlotte neighborhood. As a result, the family has lost nearly everything—clothing, cherished belongings, and all the comforts of home that we often take for granted.

They now face the daunting challenge of rebuilding their lives. To help ease their financial burden, Mel and I have set up this fundraiser for the Wilson family. Although we are all heartbroken, the outpouring of support—through love, diapers, hand-me-downs, and kind words from family, friends, and the Charlotte community—has been remarkable. In just a few hours of learning the news, many immediate needs were met. However, significant expenses still lie ahead.

Your contributions will go directly to Todd and Noreen for essential needs, including temporary housing, bills, clothing, baby items, and the eventual rebuilding of their home or transition to a new one.
