On Tuesday, we received the unexpectedly sad news that Sue had passed away suddenly after a short but ultimately defeating battle with COVID.

 

Her only child, Amber, is developmentally disabled and is currently dealing with the impossible reality that she just lost her caregiver. To make a grim situation even worse, she's now stuck planning and paying for funeral accommodations for her mother all by herself— in Tennessee, a state she's only lived in for a few months. With Amber's enduring disability, our small family always feared this day would come eventually; what we didn't prepare for was just how soon.

 

Although asking for help has always been difficult (especially with finances), we're trying hard to focus on holding Amber's hand through all of this uncertainty, albeit from halfway across the country...
