Help The Wheelchair Activist Enter the Podcast Awards!

When I launched The Wheelchair Activist, I never imagined it would grow into what it is today—a space for honest, joyful, challenging, and emotional conversations with some of the most brilliant disabled people I’ve ever met.
This past year has been a turning point. We’ve featured incredible guests like Zak Ford-Williams (Bridgerton), Marissa Bode (Wicked), and powerful episodes exploring disabled parenthood and mental health. The response from listeners has been overwhelming—messages from people who felt seen, understood, or just a little less alone. That’s why I do this.
So, despite a healthy dose of imposter syndrome, I decided to submit The Wheelchair Activist to the British Podcast Awards (in four categories!) and the Independent Podcast Awards. Not because I think we’ve “made it,” but because I truly believe these conversations deserve to be recognised.
Cost Breakdown:
️ British Podcast Awards entry (4 categories): £720
️ Independent Podcast Awards entry: £35
Total: £755
As an independent, disabled-led podcast, covering this cost is no small thing. If The Wheelchair Activist has ever made you feel something—whether it’s anger, hope, laughter, or just a new perspective—I’d be so grateful if you’d consider chipping in.
Every donation helps share disabled stories with a wider audience and challenges the idea that award-worthy storytelling only comes from big-budget productions.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
