Help the Westre Warriors with Medical Expenses
On May 1st, 2021- Saturday evening, Sara was involved in a motorcycle accident just outside of Zimmerman. Sara was riding on the back of one of her girlfriend's motorcycle. When driving there was a patch of sand/gravel on the road and unfortunately, this caused the loss of control on the motorcycle. Sara was thrown from the motorcycle. Luckily for Sara, they were not traveling alone and friends were able to call 911 immediately and attend to Sara. Multiple friends are CPR certified and were able to start doing CPR on Sara while her other friend, who is a nurse, was able to help monitor Sara and assist while waiting for EMTs to arrive on the scene. Sara was air-lifted to North Memorial Hospital, this is standard procedure when head trauma occurs. Ryan was up north when this happened and got the call no one wants to receive. Ryan's friend drove him right home so he could be with Sara.
Sara remains at North Memorial Hospital in the Trauma ICU in critical condition.
Currently, Sara has a broken collarbone, all of her ribs on the left side of her body are broken except one, and her left hand is fractured. The Dr.'s also do know that there is brain damage but they are unable to determine to what extent at the moment.
Due to COVID restrictions, Ryan is currently the only one that is able to be with her. He is only allowed to be there between 8am & 8pm. He has been there day in and day out and will continue to do so. As you can imagine for Madellen, Emmah, and Beckett it is very hard to know your mom is fighting for her life and you cannot be there to give her the support that she gives them constantly. This family is very strong. They have each other and the love/support from many people. Sara's parents have come down to help stay with the kids and have been a great support system as well.
As we all know and love Sara and the rest of the Westre group they all need us more than ever. Sara is truly one of the most gracious, loyal, kind-hearted, and caring people that I know. As you can imagine these same qualities are carried through to her amazing three children and loving husband.
We do not know what the future holds at the moment, but what we do know is that this amazing family has a long road ahead. There will be lots of medical expenses to cover and additional bills in the future. With Ryan continuously by Sara’s side and not working this family needs us more than ever. Ryan & Sara continuously give and give and give from the kindness of their heart, now it’s time for us to show the love back.
