Greetings All, This is Desmond (Dez) with an urgent plea.
As most are aware, hurricane Melissa has left unimaginable devastation in its wake across south-western Jamaica, everyone in that part of the island experienced the traumatic events, many lost everything and are now trying to figure out how to move forward. My family are among those who have experienced the devastation, as they are in the Parishes of Westmoreland and St. Elizabeth. Those affected are my mom and dad 90 and 91 years old respectively, my 88-year-old aunt and her family and my brother. They all experienced significant property damage, destroyed roofs, interior flooding and massive water damage, and in my brother’s case the loss of livestock.
It’s not just my family, the entire community — once Jamaica’s breadbasket — now faces ruin. Homes are underwater, crops destroyed, hospitals flooded. The elderly, like my family, have no shelter, food, or access to medication.
Every dollar will go directly to helping the Welsh family and their neighbors recover and survive this desperate time.
Please, give whatever you can. No amount is too small every $$ counts, together, we can restore hope, dignity, and safety to those who’ve lost everything.
Donate, share, and stand with us in love and solidarity. God bless you for caring.
Regards,
Desmond
