With your help we can raise the last 6 ½ percent of an ‘impossible” three-year capital campaign for The WatchWORD Video Bible®. More than twenty-five years ago, the Lord gave me an amazing vision for a practical way to produce the Bible word-for-word on video. Viewers around the world could watch, read, and hear it all at once. It would make reading God’s word compelling and effortless to help bring a spiritual awakening.
Since then, our strategy was to produce The New Testament in at least 7 key languages that can be understood by more than 50% of the world’s population (3.5 B). Right from the start we were told it couldn’t be done. The project was too big, too expensive, and the necessary production technology didn’t exist. In spite of this, my wife and I gave up our jobs for this vision and built a small staff with support from a handful of stakeholders. By God's grace, we're now producing our 5th key language!
Nonetheless, it took more than 10 years to produce the original WatchWORD Bible CEV New Testament (26 hrs – Contemporary English Version)--much of it shot on location. Since its release, over 750,000 DVDs have been distributed. To this day, it still surprises people that The WatchWORD Bible remains the only professional full-motion video production of the entire New Testament ever made.
Most notably, The CEV Book of Revelation was released at Madison Square Garden at the New York International Independent Film Festival. I tell the incredible story in my book, The 9/11 Prophecy.
By the end of 2016, we had produced a total of four key languages that can be understood by over a third of the world’s people.
· The CEV New Testament
· The Arabic New Testament (TAV)
· The Japanese New Testament (co-production)
· The Hindi New Testament in HD
In 2017, we started production of our fifth language, The Spanish New Testament (HD). In addition, we're reproducing English in HD using the world’s most popular translation, the NIV® New Testament (New International Version). Fourteen books have been produced to date including Mark, Luke, John, James and Revelation.
But three years ago, we faced enormous hurdles with our health issues, studio building, production expenses, and production staff. It looked like we would need an impossible million dollar campaign to overcome the problems and continue our work. We were deeply discouraged.
Then four incredible things happened. Dear friends were led to pay for our building, the bank also lowered their price, we sold our home of 25 years and donated all the proceeds, and then Netflix approached us to use our building for a major production. Together, these unexpected gifts and others in this quiet phase took us over the 90 percent mark!
As a result, The Hindi New Testament was completed in December. The NIV New Testament production reached the midway point. Then a window opened to begin The Spanish New Testament (LBLA).
Now, we’re within just 6 ½ percent of reaching our total campaign goal! With your help in this Go Fund Me the final $65,000 will enable completion of both The NIV New Testament (narrated by John Guest) and The Spanish New Testament productions in HD (narrated by Samuel Montoya) by the end of 2017.
Truly, everyone should watch the whole New Testament at least once in their life. When we first started out years ago I told our staff the ultimate best use would one day be on handheld players. And here they are!
