Help the Walters family save their home
Hi, my name is Jennifer Dampier and I am starting this fundraiser to save our home. Here is our story. Jeff Walters was the most amazing husband and dad. He was only 52 years old. He was mine and my moms best friend. He was a God loving man who went above and beyond the call to help someone in need. He was the most tender hearted loving man. He couldn’t tell people no and went out of his way to help those in need without expecting anything in return. My dad had beat stage 4 non -Hodgkins lymphoma with only a 4% chance of living some 10 years ago. He also suffered from scleroderma.
When he got covid we thought he had a bad sinus infection. On July 30th, I came home from school to realize my dad was nowhere to be found. I went to the ER and found out he had been admitted and tested positive for Covid. On August 6, the hospital called us in to see him. He had been placed in ICU and put on a ventilator. While we were getting our PPE on, an announcement came over the speakers and a code blue was called to his room. After a while they managed to bring him back and let us in for 30 mins for us to pray for him and tell him we loved him. Even while being sedated he squeezed both our hands ever so slightly. I never knew that that would be the last time I ever saw my dad.
On August 7 at 2:15 am, the good Lord called my sweet dad home. I never got to say goodbye. Covid took him from us forever. It has shattered our hearts and world and left us reeling. Without his income we run the risk of losing our house. I am helping my mom anyway I can which isn’t much so this is my way of trying to help. My mom is heart broken and the only one working. I can’t help much because I am in college but I want to help her anyway that I can.
It would mean EVERYTHING to us if we were able to pay the house and bills off. We can’t lose the house that holds sooo many precious memories and the house he out so much work and effort into. Since he had cancer we couldn’t get health insurance on him so everything has to be paid out of pocket.
He was my step dad but over the years he had morphed into the most amazing dad he didn’t have to be and the best friend I never knew I needed.
