On March 15, 2021 my cousin’s husband (Jake) and their 3 year old son (Tristan) were involved in a near fatal car accident traveling 75 North. Their suburban was completely totaled, caught fire, and the whole passenger side was gone. It was a blessing nobody traveled with them that morning. The officers and paramedics stressed that anyone on the passenger side would not have survived. It is a miracle that Jake and Tristan survived this horrendous accident.
With all praise to God, Tristan was 100% unharmed in the accident! The EMT explained, “It was like their was a protection bubble around Tristan.”
On the other hand Jake, her husband, left the accident scene with a 50% chance of survival. He was taken as trauma to Kennestone ER. He suffered severe trauma to the head, a large laceration on the top of his head (this laceration saved his life), 2 lacerations on the right side of his head/face causing paralysis to the right side of his face, and a small brain bleed. It took a total of 44 staples and some stitching to close him up. He also has a fractured neck, compressed/misplaced vertebraes in his back, 3 broken ribs, cut on his liver that has lead to some internal bleeding, and a possible torn rotator cuff.
After less than 1 week in Kennestone, they released Jake into Shana’s care. Kennestone got him to the point of stable and sent him out the door! Shana was not allowed in the hospital and fought to have a conversation with a doctor in regards to what injuries he had. So when he came home, they had to start from zero at Kaiser (their insurance provider) Since Jake’s release, he has had 1 hospital stay at Emory. He has 3-5 doctor/specialists visits a week not including labs and scans. He is expected to continue to make a full recovery, but it will be a long challenging road. We are still unclear what all will be involved and how long his recovery will take.
As you can imagine this has been a rollercoaster of a ride for The Walter’s Family. Their lives are now centered around Jake’s recovery and what seems like endless doctors visits. I would like to help take some of the financial stress off of their shoulders so I set up this GoFund me for them. If you could orwould like to hel
