Keeping Walraven Family together in time of need

Story

Hello! My name is Casey Shafer and I am creating this account on my sister’s family’s behalf. As some of you may know Jason, her husband, became ill with Covid back in May. On May 24th he was rushed to the hospital unable to breathe on his own. While there, Jason continued to decline in health. It then came time that Jasons lungs could no longer function without intervention so he was then placed on life support with a 20% chance. Even with the ventilator Jason continued to get worse so it was decided he needed to be life flighted to a better equipped hospital and put on an ECMO machine to bypass his lungs completely. Jason is currently 2 hours away at St. John’s Providence hospital fighting for his life. I know that she does not want to ask for help but I’m asking that we come together to help them out during this awful time. While she was able to take FMLA it unfortunately is not paid time off and she has now had to pick between taking care of her family or going back to work to keep the roof over their heads, etc. There is nothing the state can do to help them in their time of need so I’m hopeful we can pull together to help them out. My sister needs to be with their two kiddos who are scared and worried. She also should be able to be Jason’s support and comfort, not have to worry about bills, etc. While we don’t know what the future holds we do know that anything is possible and are remaining positive! I do know that Ashley does not want anyone to feel they have to donate and that she welcomes prayers over anything! Thank you all in advance!
