Help the Wada's as they Recover Together

Donation protected

1 Year Ago my Auntie Aviva approached me to help her create a social media post in an effort to find my Uncle, her husband and best friend, a kidney donor.  He had been diagnosed with end stage renal failure, with his kidneys both functioning at about 7 percent. This means the kidneys cannot function on their own, and the only option is hoping that dialysis works, and/or a kidney transplant.

Based on his blood type and the long waiting list at the Stanford Transplantation Center, my Uncle Terry was told he would have to wait approximately 10 years for a cadaver kidney.

The process to be screened as a live donor is lengthy, and may not end in a successful match, but she prayed for him every day, and prayed for a miracle. She was told she was not a good candidate, especially because it would require both of them to recover for 4-8 weeks post surgery.

With no match and no donor found, my Aunt and Uncle have decided to go in to surgery together, where she will be giving him a piece of her forever in an effort to save his life.

My Mom and Dad will be flying to California to help them recover as they recuperate in a rented apartment close to the hospital. My family will be driving them back and forth to appointments, making sure they are eating, getting rest, and correctly administering their medicine.

I ask that you help my family in their time of need -- help cover the medical costs, COVID-19 surcharges, travel expenses, living expenses, loss of wages...any amount will help.

And the only other thing I can ask is for you to do your part in keeping from COVID spreading -- wear a mask and wash your hands! That way the hospital will not push off the surgery any longer.

"I have known my best friend and husband Terry for over 30 years. He is very loving, thoughtful, generous, selfless, and big-hearted, to just name a few of his qualities. I am hoping and praying for 30 more years with him." - Auntie Aviva

Thank you for considering us in these difficult times!
