Help the Volarvich’s and Gavin Kick Cancer

Donation protected
For almost a decade, Coach V dedicated himself to the Nashville community, guiding and inspiring our youth both on and off the field. His unwavering commitment and passion for this town have left a lasting impact, and now his family is facing an immense challenge.

Recently, their baby boy was diagnosed with cancer, placing an unexpected financial burden on them. Though they’ve moved on from Nashville, the Volarvich’s family remains a cherished part of our Nashville community. As they navigate this difficult time, we’re asking for your help. Any donation—no matter how small—will make a difference and provide much-needed relief.

If you're unable to give, please consider sharing this campaign with others. Together, we can lift this family up, just as Coach V has lifted up so many of us.

Thank you for your support!

From Lauren on 09/28/24– Gavin update: He was airlifted last night at 12:30 am from Children’s Hospital in Springdale to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. He loved it. He is having blood transfusions all day today. He is okay. We are more positive today. The doctors will tell us about treatment plans after they test his bone marrow on Monday to know how bad it is. He definitely has LEUKEMIA. We just won’t know how bad it is until Monday.

I thank god for the school nurse, Sheila West and the quick pediatrician, Dr. Lewis, who both knew what was going on and moved quickly.

His only symptoms to us, the parents, were that he has had a pervasive cough for the last two weeks. But now, looking back, there were lots of signs. He has been very lethargic and has been bruising easily. This has only been in the past three weeks. That’s why it is ACUTE. It comes on pretty suddenly and progresses quickly.

His blood platelets were way below when they usually do a transfusion and so was his hemoglobin.

Mike did not coach his game last night, and he and the girls drove the three hours down to Little Rock as Gavin and I took the helicopter. All five of us slept with him in the hospital and are all still here with him now. I will remain in Little Rock with him for the rest of the week.

The next few years are going to be very hard and he is very afraid about losing his hair, but my baby has a good chance of surviving. And that is ALL that matters to me.

Mike and I broke down in each other’s arms in a room across the hall as the doctor shared the results with us, but we are a strong little family, and we will make it through this. We are resolved this morning and are in better spirits until we hear the more final results Monday afternoon. I’m sure we will break down again then.

Please keep Gavin and us in your prayers. I am starting a new career and finances are very tight, but I know God is going to provide a way in all of this to get our son the best possible care.
