Hi, my name is Briana Pratt and I am starting a fundraiser to help the Vlasenko Family in Kiev Ukraine.
GoFundMe is not working in Ukraine so the family has given me permission to collect the money myself and send it to them directly. You can contribute through this GoFundMe fundraiser, with Venmo, Paypal, check or cash. Please contact me (Briana Pratt) for questions or information about this fundraiser at [phone redacted].
The Vlasenko Family want to say thank you. They appreciate any contribution you can make, and are so grateful for the love and support they feel during this time.
Here is some information about the Vlasenka Family:
The Vlasenkas live in a small house in the city of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. There are 5 people in their family. Unfortunately Vladimir, the father, died last May. This was a great loss for the family and has made the current situation that much harder.
Vera is the mother, she is a very loving woman. She has opened her home to many young English teachers, like me, over the years. Vera loves God and her country. My children include Sasha (27), Christina (20 or 21), and Ivan (18). Sasha now helps to support his mother and younger siblings. He had a major surgery several years ago that prevents him from fighting against the Russians with his peers. Sasha is very kind, funny, and protective of his family. Christina is a medical student. She is so loving and kind, and was the sweetest host sister! Ivan is 18 and finishing school. He is also very loving and sweet. He has been helping Sasha to care for his mother and sister since the invasion.
As you can imagine life is very nerve wracking, unpredictable, and dangerous for them right now. They have spent nights in bomb shelters and in their home while bombs and guns blast through the day & night. They tell me they are relatively safe at the moment. They cannot get out of Kiev due to the risks and war going on around the city. They felt blessed to get groceries a couple days ago and then heart medication that Vera really needed a couple days later.
Please consider donating. The family is very appreciative. Your donation will help make a difference for them during this hardship.

About Briana Pratt:
Fall of 2008 I went to Kiev Ukraine to teach English to little kids, a service semester abroad program. I lived with a host family and really got a first hand experience with the people and culture of Ukraine. I taught 3, 4, and 5 year olds how to speak English. I used public transportation and traveled an hour each day to get from my house to the school I worked at. In other words, I lived alongside Ukrainians. I became a part of Kiev for those 3 months.
Seeing the news brings tears to my eyes. The kids I taught are 17-20 years old now. My host siblings are 18-27. Most old enough to have to defend their country.
The Vlasenko Family is near and dear to my heart. They were my host family when I taught English in Kiev, Ukraine fall 2008. They still live in Kiev and are currently stuck in their home, while Russian troops invade their city.
