Help Rebuild the Jewish Community of Venezuela After the Devastating Earthquake
Our Goal: Raise US$2,000,000
On June 24, 2026, a devastating earthquake struck Venezuela, leaving hundreds of members of the Jewish community displaced from their homes and in urgent need of assistance.
Within hours, the Vaad Hakehilot of Venezuela, mobilized to respond. Emergency shelters were immediately opened, volunteers activated, and humanitarian assistance began reaching those affected.
Today, more than 400 members of our community are being sheltered and assisted in our communal facilities.
In addition, we estimate that at least another 200 community members have sought temporary refuge with relatives or friends. While they are not currently residing in our emergency shelters, many may also require humanitarian and financial assistance as damage assessments continue.
With the possibility of aftershocks still present, many families remain understandably reluctant to return to their homes, reinforcing the need to maintain emergency shelters and provide ongoing humanitarian assistance until the situation stabilizes.
We are a small and aging community that has endured years of severe economic hardship, leaving limited resources to respond to a disaster of this magnitude.
Without international assistance, many families will struggle not only to recover but also to rebuild their lives with dignity.
Funds raised through this campaign will support:
* Emergency shelter operations and humanitarian relief
* Mattresses, cots, blankets, sheets, pillows, towels and other essential bedding
* Kosher food, bottled water and emergency meals
* Clothing, hygiene kits, diapers and basic necessities
* Medical supplies and first-aid assistance
* Temporary housing and rental assistance for displaced families
* Emergency grants to help families repair damaged homes and return safely
* Tuition assistance, school meals and educational support for affected children
* Emergency backup power infrastructure to ensure that our community institutions remain operational during future emergencies
All donations will be administered through Friends of Yajad-Venezuela, a U.S. registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and will be used exclusively for emergency relief, humanitarian assistance, family recovery, and community rebuilding efforts.
The Vaad Hakehilot will oversee the allocation of funds based on documented needs and will provide regular updates regarding relief and recovery efforts.
If you would like to learn more about our community’s response, discuss a major contribution, or support a specific aspect of our recovery efforts, we warmly invite you to contact us directly. We would be honored to provide additional information or arrange a personal briefing.

Every donation—large or small—will make a meaningful difference.
Thank you for standing with the Jewish community of Venezuela.
