Help the Vaughns: Overcoming Medical Challenges

Donation protected

Hi some of you may know me, but I'm Dustin Vaughn. I went in April 9th 2025 for a simple out patient back surgery for my l4 l5. Well as the surgeon opened up my back my membrane was tore around my spinal cord so that had to be repaired also. Surgeon repaired that along with scaping arthritis off my vertebrates and notching out bones to relieve pressure off my nerves. Night of surgery I started having horrible cluster headaches from spinal fluid leaking. Which ended me staying in the hospital until April 12th. We went home I was doing ok until my incision started leaking and we were changing out bandages 4 to 6 times a day and pain was getting worse. Ended up going into the emergency room on April 16th 2025. Mri was done and I ended up going back into surgery that night to clean up and flush any spinal fluid out. Was ok and released on my birthday April 18th 2025. Went back home where I was doing ok again till April 21st got a call that evening that when they swab my back it came back with a bacterial infection. So Tuesday the 22nd I got antibiotics started that along with my incision was leaking again. Surgeon called Wednesday morning to have me come back in Thursday morning April 24th. Well during the time I started my antibiotics I was having a horrible time moving or walking on my right leg. APRIL 24th went to my appointment the surgeon looks at my incision and the amount of pain I was in trying to walk. He readmitted me into the hospital, did another mri and surgery again on Friday April 25th 2025. This time he flushed out everything again shaved more of my disk and installed 2 drain tubes, 1 in my spinal cord and 1 in my incision area to help with any more miss happening. So that was 3 surgeries in 3 weeks. Now I'm in ICU with really no discharge in site. The pain has been better with the drain tubes but still having problems with my right leg. I've been out of work for a month before my surgery because of the back pain I was having. Now times are getting tight. My wife Auburne has been working 7 days a week to help make ends meet. I feel awful for her doing this. Any help to help our family out is greatly appreciated before all the medical bills start rolling in. Insurance has already rejected my 2nd surgery, we are worried that Insurance will rejected the 3rd surgery and I have been in ICU for 4 days already and not sure when im be discharged. We're not ones that/or ask for help from our friends or community. We'd rather help out everyone else than ourselves, but sometimes we have to bite our pride. With bills addidng up we need to start paying some adding up and possibly get start looking for an attorney for the insurance bs. Anything helps us a little bit. Thank you Dustin and Auburne Vaughn.
