We are currently raising more money urgently for this family. Two of the Velásquez family members who were abducted by ICE in March have been deported, and their families (two women and two young children who are both American citizens) are still in the United States. One of the children is in need of urgent medical care.
While the young child is in treatment the families need assistance with:
Rent
Food
Transportation
Other Necessities
If you are able to contribute a little more to this fundraiser, we are hoping to raise an additional $6,000 to help this family get through the winter.
To date, money from this fund has been used for the following:
$9,000 were paid in legal fees
$12,000 were paid in bail funds
$9,000 were paid directly to the families to help with cost of living and other expenses
As noted above, despite legal intervention, two of the family members were deported this summer. One other has chosen to return home, and the last one is pursuing an asylum status in the US.
We are hoping that bond funds will be returned for at least one of the cases and that we can pay that money forward, either to this family, or to other community members who are going through the same crisis.

We are raising money to support the Velásquez family as the primary earners of their family have been detained by ICE. The wives and children need money for rent, utilities, food and transportation. The four men who were detained need money for legal services.
Early in the morning on Thursday, March 20th ICE detained four men in Springfield, MA. Two were detained after leaving their homes on their way to work that morning. The other two were detained after the Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) broke into their home, shattering the front door, without asking permission to enter or presenting a warrant.
The Velásquez family members were handcuffed and removed from their home. The agents also broke down doors within the house, terrorizing the rest of the family and threatening them with arrest. Both men have two year old children, who were in the room as their family was brutally separated.
All four Velásquez men are being detained in Rhode Island and Plymouth, MA and have been assigned upcoming immigration court dates.
We are helping the family raise money to cover basic living expenses for themselves and their children, as well as legal expenses for the detained men.

Additional expenses due to the ongoing legal cases include:

Housing expenses due to damage incurred by ICE or the need to move to more secure housing

Estamos recaudando dinero para apoyar a la familia Velásquez ya que los principales ganadores de su familia han sido detenidos por ICE. Las familias necesitan dinero para su renta, utilidades, comida y servicios legales mientras luchan contra las acusaciones que se les an puesto a sus familiares.
Temprano en la mañana del jueves 20 de marzo, ICE detuvo a cuatro personas en Springfield, MA. Dos de ellos fueron detenidos después de salir de sus hogares en camino al trabajo esa mañana. Los otros dos fueron detenidos después de que el Departamento de Investigaciones de Seguridad Nacional (HSI, por sus siglas en inglés) forzó entrada a su casa, rompiendo la puerta principal, sin pedir permiso para entrar o presentar una orden judicial.
Los Velásquez fueron esposados y sacados de su casa. Los agentes tambíen rompieron puertas adentro de la casa, terrorrizando el resto de la familia y amenazando-les con arresto. Los dos hombres tienen hijos de dos años, que estaban en la casa cuando sus familias fueron brutalmente separados.
