Help the VandeZandes with medical bills

Donation protected
On December 27, after fighting severe illness and spending over a week in the hospital during the holiday season, Debi VandeZande was diagnosed with cancer. A CT scan originally presented a cancerous abscess in her liver. From initial tests, it was clear that this cancer did not originate in the liver and had metastasized from elsewhere in the body. While additional testing is still needed to determine the origin of the cancer and provide a full diagnosis, it has become clear that the cancer is in other major organs as well.

Since the diagnosis, Debi has been experiencing severe pain and symptoms which have progressed rapidly each day. She is now fully hospitalized and her body is fighting hard to keep going. Within days, the growth on her liver had doubled in size, and new areas of growth were found in both the liver and lungs. Her kidneys are damaged and all of her power is going towards keeping her vital organs going. At moments she’s clear headed, at others she’s confused, disoriented and taken over by pain.

The doctor’s main goal currently is to manage her pain. She will be moving to hospice care at home within the coming days.

As you can imagine, her entire family is filled with shock and sorrow watching her in such pain and agony. A reality they never imagined now playing out before their eyes. Facing feelings of being scared, angry, sad and confused all at the same time.

Debi has always been a fighter. Even in her current state, she’s cracked jokes and is her witty self. Debi is a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She loves hard no matter the circumstances. If you’re able, I ask that you please help in Debi’s fight by making a donation, no matter how small or large. The medical bills will be costly, and if there is a chance to take some of that burden off the VandeZandes’ shoulders during this difficult time, I ask that we rally together to do so.

If you’re unable to make a monetary donation, we ask for thoughts and prayers during this time.

Thank you for taking the time to read.
