Help the Valbuena Family After Fire in Fishkill
Donation protected
My name is Tristan Valbuena. On Sunday, April 18th around 10:30 pm EST, we were forced to evacuate from our apartment to find the entire back of the building on fire. Local fire departments worked to evacuate the residents, and after several hours the fires were put out, but our building was deemed too damaged for anyone to return to. That night, I (Tristan Valbuena), my fiance (Andrew Lobasso), my father (Ramon Valbuena), and our dog Luna lost our home.
This fire was not an accident, as an ongoing police investigation shows multiple buildings had been deliberately set on fire, though only Building 200 suffered so much damage it was no longer habitable. (We have included links to some articles for more information below.)
We have lost almost everything due to smoke and water damage as a result of the fire. I'm a game journalist and game developer, my fiance is also a game developer, and my father is a software developer, so in addition to clothing and personal items we have lost multiple computers, various consoles, and dev tools needed for work.
While we are working with our insurance company, it's not certain when claims will be resolved. While we are currently in an extended-stay hotel room, we are scrambling to make arrangements with friends and family for housing for the coming weeks. We hope to raise $25,000 in funds by June 5th to help us relocate to a new place to live and work and acquire the necessary equipment to resume remote work. If we raise more than the amount we need we will use that to help the other families displaced by the fire.
If you choose to donate to our cause, you have our thanks for helping us during this difficult time. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser helps immensely. Thank you.
