Help The Underbite Bites Grow

Growing up I dreamt of being a baker. I spent weekends watching the bakers at Bernie's Pretzels in Delaware County, obsessed with their salty snacks. Baking snickerdoodles with my Mom using the "secret family recipe" and making birthday cakes for my family members brought me such joy.

In June 2023, I no longer had my full-time job and decided to focus on building The Underbite Bites from a part-time weekend venture, to a full fledged bakery. Feeling burned out and unfulfilled, I realized I needed to refocus my energy into things that would help give me the sense of community and passion that I was missing in my life. In the time since then, I’ve expanded the business from baking in my home to a commercial kitchen and regularly bring my bakes to pop-ups, farmers markets, and community events, as well as maintaining a storefront open on the weekends.

Through this, I’ve found fulfillment I never thought possible. Meeting new people, making celebratory treats, and getting to know repeat customers has been incredibly rewarding.

Thanks to the support of the community, I’ve already grown out of my current space. Over the summer, I will be working on moving The Underbite Bites to a new location down the street from the current storefront. This new space is better suited for production and has more space that will give me the opportunity to fully realize my vision for what the bakery can be: a welcoming, queer-friendly space for people to gather and experience art, community, and celebration, all while having a bite to eat.

I am thrilled to be able to expand in this way. I plan to host community events like art shows, queer movie nights, markets to highlight other local makers, and fundraisers for local organizations. I love baking for you, creating for you, and I want to continue to do so in this expanded capacity.

Over the past year, I've relied on my savings and credit cards to fund start up costs but now I find myself at an impasse. With growth comes short term, but increased costs.

Ahead of the move, I’m reaching out to the community to help support this next step.
