Help the Uncommon Cottage Save its Company Vehicle

My business, The Uncommon Cottage, is a dying breed, type of store in Seattle.
We need stores like TUC to keep the heart of this city beating strong; we are part of this city's history.
TUC moved in 2023 … and then unexpectedly, after fighting for our rights in our new space, needed to move for the 2nd time due to property issues.
On March 6th of 2020, just as the pandemic Hit, we had just turned 2. Through adversaries too long to list this store has made its way to where we think we are needed, UPTOWN, Lower Queen Anne; to be part of the resurgence, revitalizing, continued growth and diversifying of this beloved OG Seattle Neighborhood.
We need our customers and community’s help to get past this unexpected, immediate business emergency which now threatens the company’s ability to keep our vehicle.
This store relies on having a car for: consignment pick ups, vending, fundraising… moving stock from the home office to the sales floor… to list only some of its many uses.
The Uncommon Cottage, was est. in 2018, and to this day is a beacon of old Seattle. The type of small business reminiscent of the crown of Seattle's now fading artsy social structure, and that is one of the many reasons to help.
As an independent, female owner (living in Seattle for 19 years), I have worked endlessly to recover personally and financially from last year’s move.
My company ran out of funding and was unable to complete the entirety of the store's buildout and has struggled to permanently reopen.
A public art event & fundraiser is scheduled for APRIL 13th at Ozzie’s; established & beloved bar, pub restaurant and event space in Lower queen Anne for 25 years.
The Uncommon Cottage is beyond grateful to have moved into a spot with this collaborative business around our corner and this event will help us get to a better spot of business … but that is Not today.
It is heartbreaking to get this far, and because of technicalities and other details the company will lose its vehicle on Monday, March 17th.
If this happens my company will be dead in the water, and most likely will not stay open.
We want our tourists and visitors to go back home and say they experienced the most quaint / quirky store in Seattle, when this happens our job is done!
But also, continuing to focus on community outreach; Jennafah the store's owner, has run fundraisers for over 2 decades for organizations such as, Lifelong, Gothic Pride Seattle, the Breast Cancer Society, Somaly Mam Foundation, T2P2 and many more. (Her fundraising started during 9/11) This passion has remained a driving force to stay open... the most recent, a successful clothing drive, with TUC as the drop off point during the LA Fires in January.
Our hearts are in the right place and we Know we Can make it Through and Remain Open, but to do this it starts with you reading this campaign now.
~ The funding will 100% ensure we're able to keep our vehicle $5,100
~ Any additional funds will go towards finishing the electrical buildout and inventory… but that is after we save the company car ($5,500)
Fundraisers WORK, when everyone gives a little …. (if some want to help raise greater funding we are humbled).
But if the MANY give $5.00 the store can raise this funding over this weekend…
*** TUC is also Open, FRI-SAT-SUN with Outrageous Sales happening all weekend long***
Thank you for reading this campaign and for your help and support.
Spring is around the corner, and with KEXP, SIFF, Climate Pledge, Counter Balance Park across the street; events like FOLKLIFE, which the company vending last year (2024) at upper Fisher Pavilion, we can't wait to give, give, give to our area.
And, we are grateful for those who are able to help our struggling independent little shop now.
