Getting the Turneys on Their Feet

Donation protected
My name is Trevor Turney, and I desperately want to get our family back on our feet. As such, I'm trying raise $6000.00, as quickly as possible, to cover months of back rent (we are currently staring eviction in the face), and to bring everything back into good standing so that we can focus on becoming self-sufficient again, without the stress of wondering if we're going to have to find a shelter, or live out of our car with three adults and three small dogs.

I live in Springdale, AR, with my wife, Chasity, our son, Ben, our three furry beasties, and a snake. We have been living here for the past four years, and we love the Northwest Arkansas area.

We moved here from Albuquerque, NM after I was unable, for several months, to find a position in my field (Software Engineering). I was offered a position in Arkansas, and we packed up and moved out. Chasity got a job in a data operations center

Everything was going okay until I lost the job as a result of addiction issues that I was(n't) dealing with. Within a month, I landed a contract with a company in Tulsa, OK. Even with a two-hour commute, each way, things were working out, and the position went permanent.

Unfortunately, the stress of the commute, coupled with my ongoing issues with alcohol, forced me to leave that position after over two years. I managed to find another short-term contract, and then it stopped.

It was at this time that Chasity and I decided that I needed to get some serious help. I have struggled with alcoholism for a number of years, and the price paid has been very dear. I've either lost or had to quit jobs because my drinking was out of control. The physical and psychological price has been extreme; I have been hospitalized on numerous occasions for major seizures, and fell into a suicidal depression for a period of time. I've been to a number of "detox camps", and all that amounted to was medication to aid in the detox process, and then I was back out and at it. There was no way that it was going work without completely removing my self from the situation and received professional help. So, I checked myself in to a residential facility for 30 days, where I worked to address my problem, once and for all. I am very happy to say that I have not had a drink in almost 5 months, and have no desire to do so.

However, this meant a long period of unemployment, and Chasity's salary is not enough to keep us afloat. We're at the point that we're living from overdraft to overdraft. I have several applications and resumes out, but only nibbles in return. I've tried to get into retail or customer service positions, but I'm "over-qualified," and people are hesitant to hire, as they believe that I'll bolt as soon as a "real" position comes along. That being said, I do have some good prospects in the works, but the companys that I'm working with seem to have the luxury of interviewing when they choose; I applied for four different developer positions at Walmart at the beginning of June, and they still show as "under consideration".

Ben has been struggling with some psychological issues that had impeded his ability to really be able to get out into the world, but he has made remarkable progress, and is getting ready to attend school in January. For him to be able to do this, we have to be able to maintain our resedency. Getting this education is very important him, and will enable him to further his life goals.

We have gone to our parents for help, but they are not in a position to offer anything, and we've pretty much sold anything of value. Anything else that we have, we will lose, because we can't afford to store it,

Our landlord has been *extremely* understanding, and we've been able to pay small amounts, here and there, but that can only last for so long. We're looking at the street, in very short order.

Thank you, so much, for taking the time to read this. Any gesture that you can make would be profoundly appreciated. We are so thankful for the many blessings that we've had, and we would be very, very thankful for any help that comes our way.

Thank you.
