Hi everyone, we are the Turner Family.
On Tuesday, August 5th, between 4:30 am and 5am, our family was awakened by the smoke detectors beeping and the house filling with dark black smoke. My husband heard and smelled everything first. Thankfully our two oldest were not home and the youngest 4 were sleeping in our room with us. When he woke us up, the room filled with smoke immediately. I found my phone, called 911 and used my flashlight to find the kids to put them as close to the window as possible. Our air unit went out so the kids were sleeping in our room to keep cool. My husband used the portable air conditioner unit we had to break the window and put on a shoe to kick out the frame. I jumped out and he lowered all the kids to me before jumping out himself. Thankfully outside of being cut by glass, we all survived. We went to the er, my husband needed 18 staples in his arm and stitches in his thumb but we all survived!
Unfortunately the majority, if not all, of our belongings either burned or are severely damaged by smoke. There have been many people requesting a donation link. We are unsure of what we need in total, but are grateful for anything anyone gives. Right now we are looking for housing, gathering toiletries and household essentials like tissue, detergents, etc, getting pull ups and wipes, and clothes and shoes for everyone. To everyone that has a desire to give but are unable, we appreciate all prayers and well wishes as well.
Thank you all for your time and consideration of The Turner Family.
