David DeLoach is a seasoned arborist, valued community member, friend, and father. David has raised me since the age of two, and has provided lots of hugs, wisdom, and love that helped me grow into the person I am today.

On the morning of February 18th, David went to the Emergency Room per the direction of his doctor due to poor oxygenation and life-threatening anemia. David and I spent six subsequent days in the hospital as medical professionals gave him blood transfusions, iron infusions, and a plethora of tests to try to find the cause of his blood loss. After the nutrients in his blood were restored, we were faced with paralyzing news: David was experiencing difficulty breathing as a result of pulmonary fibrosis (lung scarring) and RSV. In addition, David tested positive for colon cancer (adenocarcinoma). The cancer was causing his anemia, which caused his health to decline rapidly.

In an attempt to move forward as a family and get David the care he deserves, we are inviting our village to help contribute financially to his medical expenses. In addition to his bills from the week-long stay in the hospital, David needs a follow-up procedure to remove the cancer, medications for his breathing, and likely, chemotherapy treatments. David wants to stress that any and all contributions will be put toward medical expenses only, and that any residual funds will be used to test for evidence of other cancers that run in his family (his mother passed from multiple myeloma 7 months ago).
