Help the Toyota Sera club make fibreglass wings

This fundraiser is to raise sufficient money to have moulds made in order to re-create front wings for the Toyota Sera car from fibreglass.

The Toyota Sera was made between 1990 and 1995 and sold in Japan only, although there are about 100-150 in the UK. Toyota stopped being able to supply new front wings several years ago, and secondhand parts are often poor condition.

Whilst it would be nice to make the wings from steel, the cost of tooling would be tens of thousands of pounds, so glass fibre reinforce plastic (GRP / GFRP aka fibreglass) is a cost effective alternative.

Andrew Cliffe (myself) has found and bought a good pair of secondhand wings which will used to take the moulds.     They are in good condition (pic of one below) and ideal for taking moulds from.

The moulding company is a long established fibreglass manufacturing company in Cheshire. They have estimated £ 700 per wing to take moulds, although I have added a little extra to the crowdfunding total to cover carriage costs and back and forth.

Once the moulds have been made, the wings will cost about £ 175 + VAT each, with the possible option of carbon fibre / kevlar.     Panels can be exported to other countries as well.     If they were stocked as an off the shelf item, the retail price would be higher.

When choosing a moulding company I approached a eight moulding companys. Two declined the work saying they were too busy, but one kindly referred me to another company, so nine in total.   Three of the remaining seven companies others quoted and the proposed company were the most interested by far. They were not the cheapest, nor the most expensive.    The other four didn't bother replying.
