Hey! We are the 2021 TKS-iGEM team: 8 teens from around the world on a mission to make an impact in the biotech space.
Our story:
TKS is a 10-month accelerator for ambitious teenagers who want to make an impact in the world. We replicate the learning environment and culture of Silicon Valley and train to solve the world's biggest problems using exponential tech.
In 2020, the TKS virtual global program was launched. Being passionate about synthetic biology and having worked on biotech projects in the past, we took initiative and started the first-ever TKS iGEM team.
We started the team a bit later (considering the iGEM calendar). However, we are confident that we have (almost) everything we need to make this a very successful experience: our advisors have done iGEM in the past, started biotech companies, and coached startups at top-tier universities. Our network includes people who work at Ginkgo Bioworks, Twist Bioscience, and other big companies.
