UPDATE: Evan is starting to respond to direction and external instructions!!! This is huge. He has been smiling, moving his hands and starting to open his eyes. He is still in the ICU with machines working for him to help his organs heal, but we are continuing to pray and be hopeful that as he starts to wake up, his body is able to do more and more on its own. Thank you again for your generosity!

About a month ago, Evan Terkildsen was diagnosed with anca vasculitis, an autoimmune disease that has drastically affected his life going forward.

On Thursday, February 15, Evan was rushed to the hospital in life threatening condition. Evan had to be intubated and has been transferred to Toronto General Hospital for the foreseeable future. He is in full respiratory failure and is currently sedated on a feeding tube and being cared for by the highest possible medical team for his situation. Right now Evan is stable, but unfortunately every single hour is still crucial to Evan’s recovery, and it is still unknown what the impact of this most recent episode may have on the function of his major organs and brain. While we are believing for miracles and know Evan is an absolute fighter, the reality of this autoimmune disease is that Evan will have this disease for the remainder of his life and will need to juggle the risks associated with it.

I am hoping that this Go Fund Me can go to supporting Evan’s mom, Brenda while she is staying downtown Toronto in a hotel and off work to be by her baby boy’s bedside at this time. Anything we can do to relieve the financial stress would be so helpful. From unexpected hotel and food costs, to being unable to go to work, this family deserves all the support they can get right now.

If you know Brenda and Evan’s sister Megan, you know how important family is and how strong their relationship is with one another. You know that they have dropped everything to be together and be with Evan while he fights for his life. The Terkildsen’s would do anything and everything for the people around them and it’s time for us to return the favour in their time of need.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, I know it will mean the world.
