Hi, my name is Mindy, and my good friend Amy Sweder, along with her husband Troy, their two children Kaya and Trey, Troy’s mom (Mum Mum), and their pup Tucker lost their home and all belongings to a devastating house fire on the night of August 7th. The family lost their beloved cat in the fire, and thankfully, nobody else was home. This also meant that the fire was not caught quickly, and the house- along with all of their possessions- is a total loss.
Amy, Troy, and the family need to find (and pay for) a rental to live in, groceries, and bills while dealing with insurance companies, along with grappling with the shock and trauma of losing their family home and all of their possessions.
Kaya turned 18 only five days ago and is heading to UMASS Amherst as a freshman on Aug 26. Everything for her college move- computer, bedding, clothes and all other items for school- all of it is lost.
Trey is an active sophomore in Methuen High School, and deeply involved with lacrosse and hockey. All of his sports gear and clothes needs to be replaced. He starts school in late August.
Amy, a school adjustment counselor at Saugus High School, starts back at work in about 2 weeks (late August). She needs a wardrobe for her professional career. Her life’s work has been dedicated to serving students and kids experiencing trauma and loss. I’m hoping we can show Amy that just like she is there for her students, we are here to support her and her family when they need it most.
Troy served for many years, and is a proud veteran of our country’s military.
The Sweder family are the last folks to ask for help. At the same time, they need our help, our love, and our prayers to see them through this dark time. Thank you for considering a donation to help them get back on their feet. All funds will be directly transferred to Amy Sweder.
