On Monday night, September 7th, Hurricane Lowell tore through the small, tight-knit community of Kekaha, Kauai, bringing wind gusts of over 80 mph that devastated the area.

Keala (my brother), Britnee (his wife), and their three younger children were sheltering inside their home when a massive mango tree from a neighboring yard came crashing down on top of their home - collapsing part of the roof and ceiling of their master bedroom. Now that the storm has passed, the long road to recovery for both them, and their community, has begun.

Keala teaches Engineering and Coding at the local high school during the week, while working at the nearby US military base on the weekends. Britnee works as a Speech Therapist for the school district and her case load spans at least 5 local schools. They also both serve their community tirelessly through numerous church, youth sports, and volunteer activities. They have spent many years giving back to their community and this is our chance to give back to them.
